VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS

EOYDC’s Kuumba Arts Program offers a wide variety of free after-school and summer artistic enrichment activities designed to support creativity, cultural pride, self-expression, and personal development. In addition to providing opportunities for young people to develop creative skillsets, we seek to offer exposure to career paths and networks in the visual and performing arts.

LeRoy Neiman Art Studio

In 2017, The LeRoy Neiman Foundation opened the LeRoy Neiman Art Studio at EOYDC. Equipped with large communal tables, track lighting, storage space, and gilded with Neiman’s own artworks and ephemera, the art center is a vibrant oasis where EOYDC’s commitment to community and creative expression can be played out.

BE THE POWER

The “Be The Power” mural project was led by EOYDC Alumni, Bobby Arte, in partnership with Andrew Jones, Derek Shavers, and Rachel Wolfe of the Bay Area Mural Project. Dozens of youth contributed to the mural project including Damon Whitehead, Kaloni Edwards, and “Gabe” Olubori Babaoye. This mural was co-designed by EOYDC youth and Black and Brown master artists to depict the revolutionary legacy of Black and Brown leaders and the seeds being sown into the next generation to create the future they envision for themselves.
