About Us

The Physical Development Department offers a variety of programs and services from basketball to rowing. With the exception of the Karate Class, all youth activities are offered at no cost to insure that no child will be left out because of their families inability to pay

Health and fitness are integral to the development of sound minds. Also important to personal growth and development is self discipline and the ability to work well with others. These life issues are addressed in a variety of recreational activities within the Physical Arts Department.

The recreational activities offered by the Physical Development Department encourage development and enhancement of each participant’s physical, intellectual and social skills. The activities emphasize team building and sportsmanship.

The Physical Development Department is consistently reorganizing and exploring potential community partnerships and collaborations, such as Big City Mountaineers and the Oakland Rowing Club, to effectively establish sports activities for the youth of East Oakland. The majority of activities within the Physical Development Department take place after school, in the evening.
