There are a few reasons why I didn’t finish high school; one of them was lack of focus. I had everything else on my mine other than school, things like partying, kicking it, and boys. I have never been really in to school; I used to say it just wasn’t for me.

After I got into some trouble, my probation officer sent me to the East Oakland Youth Development Center because they have a smaller school environment. I really like the small class and the class times. Two and a half hours are perfect for me. Eight hours of school used to make me so mad that I wouldn’t last to sixth period. Not only that, a bigger school meant bigger problems and at EOYDC, there were less things to worry about other than my school work.

EOYDC has helped me to like school enough to come back and finish.
