Pathway Scholarship Funds and Submission Instructions

History of
The first Pathway to College (PTC) scholarships were awarded in 2003 to five very deserving recipients. Within the past six years, the Pathway to College program has grown and developed into a viable resource for numerous students in the bay area. The PTC scholarship program has grown to award over 35 scholarships to college-bound recipients. The recipients are at different levels of their education; some students are just receiving their General Equivalency Diploma (GED), some have recently graduated from high school, and others are currently enrolled at public and private institutions of higher learning nationwide.

Important Due Dates: All applications must be submitted by March 30th, and supporting documentation must be submitted by April 30th. Award recipients will be notified via regular mail and/or email by or before June 1st.

Types of Scholarships Available
There are three scholarships available under the Pathway to College program. The amount of the awards can range from $250 to $2500. Below please find each scholarship description and respective criterion:

College Access Foundation: this scholarship is geared toward high school seniors who have been accepted to a two- or four- year college or university and is available to anyone who meets the listed criteria:

  • 2.3 or higher Grade Point Average
  • Be a active PTC program participant*
  • Fill out an application (application can be picked up from EOYDC or online **
  • Complete the interview process- once your application is received, someone will contact you to schedule an interview with the EOYDC Scholarship Evaluation Team
  • Attend the Something for Everyone Awards Ceremony
  • Write a thank you letter (once you receive notice of the award you are granted)
  • Write a personal and digital story to be included on the EOYDC website.

Pathway to College Transition Scholarship: this scholarship is geared toward students who have received their GED and have been accepted to a two- or four-year college or university and is available to anyone who meets the listed criteria:

  • GED test scores equivalent to a 2.3 Grade Point Average or higher
  • Be a active PTC program participant*
  • Fill out an application (application can be picked up from EOYDC or online **
  • Complete the interview process- once your application is received, someone will contact you to schedule an interview with the EOYDC Scholarship Evaluation Team
  • Attend the Something for Everyone Awards Ceremony
  • Write a thank you letter (once you receive notice of the award you are granted)
  • Write a personal and digital story to be included on the EOYDC website

Continuing/returning students: this scholarship is geared toward applicants who are currently enrolled in a college or university and is available to anyone who meets the listed criteria:

  • Grade Point Average Evaluation on a case-by-case basis
  • Be a active PTC program participant*
  • Fill out an application (application can be picked up from EOYDC or online **
  • Complete the interview process- once your application is received, someone will contact you to schedule an interview with the EOYDC Scholarship Evaluation Team
  • Attend the Something for Everyone Awards Ceremony
  • Write a thank you letter (once you receive notice of the award you are granted)

Regina Jackson Scholarship: this scholarship is given to someone who is chosen by the EOYDC Scholarship Evaluation Team and available to anyone who meets the listed criteria:

  • 2.9 or higher Grade Point Average
  • Demonstrate leadership, hard work ethic, and consistent dedication to EOYDC
  • Be a active PTC program participant*
  • Fill out an application (application can be picked up from EOYDC or online **
  • Complete the interview process- once your application is received, someone will contact you to schedule an interview with the EOYDC Scholarship Evaluation Team
  • Attend the Something for Everyone Awards Ceremony
  • Write a thank you letter (once you receive notice of the award you are granted)
  • Write a personal and digital story to be included on the EOYDC website

*All students who have not submitted required documentation will not be eligible to receive the scholarship award. The following conditions and documentation is required to determine eligibility:

For new applicants:

  • PTC scholarship application
  • Active PTC membership which includes assessment by PTC Coordinator and PTC Club participation and upholds the PTC expectations
  • Transcript
  • Letter of acceptance or proof of enrollment
  • Letter of recommendation
  • Photo

For returning applicants:

  • PTC scholarship application
  • Active PTC membership which includes assessment by PTC Coordinator and PTC Club participation and upholds the PTC expectations
  • Transcript
  • Summary update of academic progress and EOYDC participation
  • Recent photo (If desired)

** Please note there are two different scholarship applications: one for the continuing/returning students, and one for all other students. Please be sure to fill out the correct form. When your scholarship application is received, the PTC Coordinator will assess which scholarships you qualify for— there is no need to specify which scholarship you are applying for.
