Lakers Assistant Coach Holds EOYDC Event-2010

, CA (KGO) — Oakland native and assistant coach Brian Shaw hosted an afternoon of , wine and music at his home Saturday for a good cause — Pathways To College.

This program is part of the East Oakland Youth Development Center, which was founded in 1973, created to prepare students for a smooth and informed transition into college life with academic counseling, , and assistance.

Brian Shaw hosted the event with EOYDC Executive Director Jackson.

“The young have the opportunity to be exposed to things that they never thought imaginable and specifically through the opportunity to go to college which is why we’re here for ,” said Jackson.

“Growing up, I spent a lot of hours playing basketball in the gym there and being talked to by counselors and people in the to try to keep me on the right . And so I can definitely say that I’m a product of the center and what it does,” said Shaw.
