If nothing more, my time at EOYDC was always well spent. The lessons I learned there are still helping me out on a regular basis. Playing gigs and being up on stage are no problem now after studying the steel drums at the center. After you’ve played in front of a stadium full of people at an A’s game, as I did with the center, everything else just seems small. The cooking classes I took really help out as well. I know my way around a kitchen pretty well now, and though I often don’t have time to cook (being as I’m a college student and all), I could make lobster or even stuffed bell peppers.
Over all, my experience at the East Oakland Youth Development Center was a positive one and I wouldn’t trade the time I spent there for anything else.
