High school was an important step on my educational path. However, my situation brought many difficulties in the completion of high school. When I dropped out of high school, I had given up hope on my goals. Going through a rough path with no support around made me make the decision to leave school. Family problems interfered with my chance of graduating high school. I went through multiple foster homes and schools, and as a result I developed some anger toward my parents. My anger caused me to become a rebel at school and sabotaged my good potential and opportunities. As I got older and didn’t attend school, I thought my opportunities vanished. Moving to Oakland from Los Angeles made me realize that the people here supported me and informed me about the resources provided by the city, like EOYDC.

I was afraid to take my GED test because I felt unprepared, but friend told me about the benefits of EOYDC . When I applied I was amazed at the programs that they provided for the community. EOYDC helped me a lot and I’m really thankful because I received another chance. The best thing that EOYDC brings to you is positive and not negative and keeps you holding on to accomplish your goal.
