Now that I’m an adult, I realize not finishing school was a big mistake. I had my first child at the tender age of sixteen, so I decided to drop out of school and take care of my daughter.

I didn’t finish high school because I had my daughter while I was still in school. After I had her I tried to go back to school, but that didn’t work out for me. After a few years went by, I had my second, then third child. I tried to go back to school a few times in between, but I didn’t have the encouragement to stay in school and it also became overwhelming.

About a year ago I decided I was going to go back to school and get my GED. In April I started going to and after a few weeks I realized I like my teacher, so it made me want to come back and learn what I needed to pass the GED test. Ms. Anana, the GED teacher was very encouraging to me. She gave me what I needed to stay in school.

Enrolling in the EOYDC helped me accomplish a long-time goal. I now feel like I can accomplish anything. Before starting the program, I had a lot of ideas, but they were just ideas. Now I can’t wait to start on another one of my goals, which is to study to become a phlebotomist and own my own cleaning business

It doesn’t matter how old you are, you can always start your life from the beginning.
