    The Experience Of A Lifetime
When you think about going camping, most of the time you picture a tent and sleeping bags, late night campfires with smores and maybe either a bear or two. You seldom think that a camping trip would include hiking for hours carrying a 20-pound backpack going up steep hills for miles and miles. Well I’m here to tell you that there is such trip and the one I went on has opened up many doors for me.

My Big City Mountaineer trip was a very unforgettable experience. On this trip I learned many things about myself. I was able to conquer fears that I thought I would never be able to. I was able to bond with six other girls and gain friendships with all of them. On this eight-day adventure I was discovered that no one in this world could ever tell me that I am not strong because I climbed 10,000 feet in the air.

The first day of the hiking trip was kind of cool it wasn’t that hard because we were not really hiking, or should I say doing any of the dirty work yet. Our leader Mark treated to many of our favorite foods like crispy cream doughnuts. We played many games that helped us trust the team. I think that these activities did in the end, help me better depend on everyone for moral support. It was on this day that I thought that the trip would be a piece of cake.

It was not until the second day, that I learned what the trip was all about. I can tell you now that it was no vacation. This is the day when we actually put on the 20-pound backpacks and started hiking up the mountains. I remember the weight of that thing like it was yesterday. It takes perseverance to climb up mountains all day long carrying big weights. It was also on this day that I had second thoughts about this experience.

Now days 2-7 were all the same, hard and long. The only thing that kept me going was the taste of a giant burger. I know it might be a shame but on these kinds of trips you need to think about something good.

My Big City Mountaineer experience was overall uplifting because I was able to learn many things about others and myself. I was also able to conquer my fears and discover the finer things in life. I want to thank everyone who participated in this trip because it was truly unforgettable.
